A Jazzy Afternoon
Players Theatre, Port Macquarie
Sunday, 24th July 2022

Those who joined the Hastings Choristers for A Jazzy Afternoon on Sunday 24 July at 2.00pm at Players Theatre found it a wonderful way to spend a winter’s Sunday afternoon. The sun was shining, and the capacity crowd enjoyed an extended interval to chat with friends both old and new in the Theatre forecourt.

Cantorus delighted the audience with favourites such as Autumn Leaves and Sentimental Journey. Our special guest was Dr Kevin Hunt, a Sydney jazz pianist and composer. Other highlights of the concert included performances from percussionist Phil Luke, and a bracket of songs from the ever-popular female ensemble, Cantabile.

This concert was especially notable as Hastings Choristers' first public presentation under the direction of our new MD, Olwen WilliamsOlwen has performed across Australia and internationally as an à cappella and jazz vocalist, and gave the audience a thrilling solo rendition of Colours of my Dream in the first item after the interval.

Here are some of the more recent events that the Hastings Choristers have participated in.

Hastings Choristers welcomes all those who wish to sing at a performance level whether experienced or accomplished.

As a mixed voice SATB choir (Soprano/Alto/Tenor/Bass) there is a place for all voices in CANTORUS. All singers, especially men, are warmly and enthusiastically welcomed to pursue their love of singing at our weekly rehearsals held at MacKillop Senior College Hall, Ocean Drive, Port Macquarie.
