Choral Magic
Uniting Church, Port Macquarie
Saturday, 4th June 2005

There were no rabbits being pulled out of a hat or ladies being sawn in two, but the concerts by Cantorus and Cantabile on the weekend of June 4 and 5 were magic indeed.

Musical Director, Robyn Ryan, is a highly respected musician and conductor whose ability to get remarkable results from both adult and children’s choirs is legendary. “I want this concert series to demonstrate the full range of what choral music is all about. There will be light pieces from musicals, beautiful, melodic songs from around the world and some unforgettable moments from the classics,” she said. “It will be a true variety concert of the highest quality, and anyone who enjoys Choral Music will be delighted with it.”

“The female ensemble, Cantabile, will also feature on the program. This group has been together for several years and focuses on close four part harmonies in a wide range of styles. For Choral Magic they are preparing some great Barber Shop arrangements as well as Italian Motets – you can’t get much more variety than that! Audiences might even get a chance to hear the rare viola da gamba accompanying the motets.”

Here are some of the more recent events that the Hastings Choristers have participated in.

Hastings Choristers welcomes all those who wish to sing at a performance level whether experienced or accomplished.

As a mixed voice SATB choir (Soprano/Alto/Tenor/Bass) there is a place for all voices in CANTORUS. All singers, especially men, are warmly and enthusiastically welcomed to pursue their love of singing at our weekly rehearsals held at MacKillop Senior College Hall, Ocean Drive, Port Macquarie.
