Celebrating Christmas in Style

Hastings Choristers were privileged to welcome internationally renowned composer and musician Paul Jarman to Port Macquarie, to be the special guest conductor at its Let There Be Song! Christmas concert.  The concert, held on Sunday December 11th at the Baptist Church, was a joyous celebration of Christmas.

Hastings Choristers’ Music Director, Olwen Williams, produced a varied program filled with first-class musical experiences as may be seen from the program (at left).  The concert opened with local special guest artist, guitarist Damon Winter, performing a Flamenco style Christmas medley.  During the concert Paul Jarman conducted the Hastings Choristers in three of his own acclaimed Australian songs, and also gave the audience a very special treat by singing a duet with his daughter Ruby of another of his popular works.

In addition, there were several choral classics performed by Hastings Choristers - from Handel’s “Hallelujah” chorus to Karl Jenkins’ melodic “The Shepherd” and John Rutter’s beautiful “Christmas Lullaby”.  Performances from the ever-popular female choral ensemble Cantabile also delighted the audience, while the debonair and talented pianist Jonathan Hingston accompanied both choirs.

The concert drew to a close with sing-along carols, giving all an opportunity to participate and really get into the Christmas spirit -  sharing the joy of song with Hastings Choristers.
