Rejoice and be Merry
Uniting Church, Port Macquarie
Saturday, 2nd December 2006

Choirs are synonymous with Christmas and this weekend audiences celebrated the season in style. Rejoice and Be Merry ! was a light and enjoyable entertainment of the highest quality. It was certainly a very relaxed concert with lots of familiar Christmas music as well as some surprises and plenty of chances for the audience to get involved. There were some lovely children’s voices as well as the main Cantorus choir and the smaller Cantabile ensemble.

The Hastings Choristers choirs, Cantorus and Cantabile were joined by the professional Rococo String Quartet in some Christmas classics. The Rococo String Quartet (see picture below) was recently placed third in the National String Competition and is one of the finest ensembles in Australia. Its young members are charismatic and dynamic and that came through in their interpretation of the selected music. Their performance for the December concerts included the Corelli Christmas Concerto as well as some beautiful Baroque pieces.

Here are some of the more recent events that the Hastings Choristers have participated in.

Hastings Choristers welcomes all those who wish to sing at a performance level whether experienced or accomplished.

As a mixed voice SATB choir (Soprano/Alto/Tenor/Bass) there is a place for all voices in CANTORUS. All singers, especially men, are warmly and enthusiastically welcomed to pursue their love of singing at our weekly rehearsals held at MacKillop Senior College Hall, Ocean Drive, Port Macquarie.
